Ingredients:
- 12 sticks of mozzarella cheese (string cheese or cut into sticks)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooking oil (for frying)
Instructions:
- Cut the mozzarella sticks into pieces, around 3 inches long.
- In separate bowls, place the flour in one, beaten eggs in another, and combine breadcrumbs with garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper in the third bowl.
- Take each mozzarella stick piece and coat it first in flour, shaking off excess.
- Dip the flour-coated stick into the beaten eggs, ensuring it's fully coated.
- Roll the stick in the seasoned breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere the breadcrumbs to the cheese. Ensure an even coating.
- Place the coated mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze them for at least 1-2 hours until firm.
- Heat cooking oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully place a few frozen mozzarella sticks into the hot oil, avoiding overcrowding.
- Fry the sticks for about 1-2 minutes until they turn golden brown and the cheese starts to melt.
- Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried mozzarella sticks and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve the hot and crispy mozzarella sticks with marinara sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
Enjoy the crispy outside and gooey, melted cheese inside these homemade mozzarella sticks! Adjust seasonings to suit your preference.
