Ingredients:
- 1 pound (450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooking oil for frying
- Lemon wedges (for serving)
- Cocktail sauce or tartar sauce (for dipping, optional)
Instructions:
Preparing the Shrimp:
Pat dry the peeled and deveined shrimp using paper towels to remove excess moisture.
In three separate bowls, set up a breading station:
- Place the flour in the first bowl.
- Beat the eggs in the second bowl.
- Combine the breadcrumbs, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in the third bowl.
Coating and Frying the Shrimp:
- Take each shrimp and dredge it first in the flour, shaking off any excess.
- Dip the flour-coated shrimp into the beaten eggs, ensuring it's fully coated.
- Finally, coat the shrimp with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere the breadcrumbs to the shrimp. Ensure an even coating.
- Heat cooking oil in a deep skillet or frying pan to around 350°F (175°C) for frying.
- Carefully place the breaded shrimp into the hot oil, cooking in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan.
- Fry the shrimp for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they turn golden brown and crispy.
- Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried shrimp and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
Serve and Enjoy:
- Serve the crispy fried shrimp hot, garnished with lemon wedges for a zesty touch. Pair with cocktail sauce or tartar sauce for dipping, if desired.
