Ingredients:
For the Wings:
- 2 pounds chicken wings, split at joints, tips removed
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Cooking oil spray
For the SweetHeat BBQ Sauce:
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- ¼ cup honey
- 2 tablespoons Sriracha sauce (adjust for desired spiciness)
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Wings:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels. Season them with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and onion powder.
2. Bake the Wings:
- Place a wire rack on a baking sheet and lightly coat it with cooking oil spray.
- Arrange the seasoned chicken wings on the rack in a single layer.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until the wings are golden brown and crispy, flipping them halfway through cooking.
3. Make the SweetHeat BBQ Sauce:
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine barbecue sauce, honey, Sriracha sauce, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, and ground ginger.
- Stir well and let it simmer for 5-7 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens. Remove from heat.
4. Glaze the Wings:
- Once the wings are cooked and crispy, remove them from the oven.
- Place the wings in a large mixing bowl and pour the SweetHeat BBQ Sauce over them.
- Toss the wings gently until they are evenly coated with the sauce.
5. Broil for a Final Glaze:
- Preheat the broiler in your oven.
- Place the sauced wings back on the baking sheet with the wire rack.
- Broil for 2-3 minutes until the sauce caramelizes and the wings get an extra crispiness. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning.
6. Serve and Enjoy:
- Garnish the Blazing Honey Firecracker Wings with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired. Serve these SweetHeat BBQ Wings hot and watch as they bring a flavorful explosion to your taste buds, combining the perfect balance of sweet and spicy!
